Topic: Managing Data in Test Automation Frameworks
In automation, test data are always separated from the scripts for reusability and data-driven testing. Subject matter experts should be able to easily modify test data and execute scripts without having special programming skills. Test scripts are usually logically grouped in test sets for execution. One script can belong to multiple test sets being run on distributed hosts with unique data. Test data can be classified according to their scope: global data visible to all scripts within a test set and local data individual for each script.
The success of a test automation framework depends on how effectively it supports test data modification without conflicts between different test sets.

Dr. Vladimir Belorusets is an SQA Manager at Xerox Corp responsible for quality of enterprise content management applications. Vladimir is a Certified Tester by American Software Testing Qualifications Board. He has more than two decades of extensive experience in software development, test automation, test management, and software engineering methodology.
Vladimir has held different Engineering and QA Management positions at EMC, Siebel, CSAA, and startups. He taught various courses in test automation in San Francisco Bay Area computer schools. Vladimir has numerous publications on software testing in STP magazine and StickyMinds.com. He was a speaker at HP Software Universe 2007 and STARWEST 2003. He earned his PhD in Control Systems from Moscow Institute for Systems Analysis, Russian Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Belorusets is a member of the Strategic Advisory Board and Conference Program Committee at STP Collaborative.
