The Spotlight on Testing

STP Community News Software Test Professionals Conference Software Testing Teams Trends podcast

We just completed our second event as Software Test Professionals association and by all accounts, it was a great success. The attendees came to Nashville energized and ready to engage each other in discussions about testing; everything testing.

The kickoff keynote speaker was James Bach who offered in great detail, the power of being a great testing coach. It was the first time he presented the topic and by the audience response, it is one that will be carried forward as a crowd favorite. A great line-up followed James including Garrison Wynn who presented How to Win an Unfair Fight: Influencing People You Don’t Have Authority Over; John Montgomery of U-Test discussed Top 10 Tech Trends and How They are Altering the Testing Landscape which was very well received by the audience. Joel Zeff lightened up the afternoon with some comedic relief with a very relevant message, Make the Right Choice: Leading Successful Teams During Turbulent Times. Rex Pemberton closed the keynote sessions and shared his inspiring story to become the youngest Australian to climb Mount Everest, Rising to the Challenge.

The heartbeat of the conference was definitely the sessions and the discussions that emerged from the session content. Everywhere you looked people discussed testing; whether it was informal or at one of the organized networking activities. Attendees took full advantage of opportunities to leverage each other’s software testing insights and find solutions to their most pressing challenges.

Networking started at the welcome reception at Findley’s Irish Pub and never stopped. The spotlight was always on testing, whether it was at the dinner groups, Power-Up Issues & Solutions discussions, Speed Geeking Breakfast Bytes, or at the Wildhorse Saloon conference party. The social networking was a big hit as well and pictures can be viewed at the Live Site.

The STP conference continues to grow and we are looking forward to our next event in the fall. We are in the process of convening the next Conference Program Board to ensure that we continue to provide the type of content delivered in Nashville. If you are interested in finding out more about the Board you can visit the Get Involved page of the association website.

We can’t thank our attendees, presenters, and sponsors enough. To our attendees we say thank you and we hope you will come back to another STP conference. To our presenters we understand and appreciate all of the hard work and preparation it takes to deliver valuable knowledge. It is the thought leaders in testing that create the foundation for a great event. Finally, thank you to our sponsors for your efforts in helping us deliver a quality event that is a great reflection on all of us in the industry.

We hope to see each and every one of you at the next STP conference. This event has set the bar very high but that is our challenge here at STP to deliver beyond your expectations. We look forward to the challenge and your support!
