I have not always been a software testing professional. I got started in the software development world as an installer and trainer for the company I work for. There were many transitions since then within the company to adding phone support to my list of duties, dropping the phone support and going totally with training, both in house and on site, and finally ending up in the quality assurance department. One of my first tasks in that department was to take our infant automation suite and bring it up to speed. That had been my "baby" for the past 9 years I worked there. We had moved in the past few years from a hard coded "script" automation to a robust data driven testing framework using CSV's as the basis for the tests. We had also recently adopted Agile/Scrum methodology for our development practices and was brought into our meetings where we planned out our implementation and the concepts. Recently, I've started work in a company that services the pharmaceutical industry, specifically with clinical trial document processing and CRM. The challenges in this industry are how to apply efficient software development and testing processes to a highly regulated, information sensitive industry. My life isn't entirely ruled by software testing. I am a Masters student of Missional Ministry in seminary and have discovered that many of the concepts of leadership I've been learning apply to the business world as well as to the religious world. My other past-times include playing online MMORPG's, reading sci-fi/fantasy novels, and enjoying time with my family (two daughters and a lovely wife).

Testing and Ethics

Friday June 11th 2010 2pm 2 3 Comments Testing Software Best Practices
This is just an introduction to the whole idea of testing and ethics. Hopefully, we can start some longer discussions into the way that ethics play a part in testing.
